Nitro NLP Hackathon

27 - 28 March 2027

About

About

The Nitro NLP Hackathon is a 23-hour competition for high school and bachelor students. Teams receive a new NLP dataset and race to build models that score highest on the leaderboard. Organized by the Nitro Association, a Romanian non-profit focused on AI education, the event offers a focused way for students to explore NLP, sharpen their skills, and learn through direct practice. The event combines the intensity of a short deadline with the challenge of real data, giving young learners a focused way to test skills, learn new methods, and compete with peers.

Call for tasks

Call for tasks

Starting this year we open the call for tasks to the public! We seek tasks that:

  • spark creativity and experimentation, not just reward existing expertise
  • can be solved in 23 hours using ordinary laptops
  • have enough complexity so scores vary (not everyone ends up neck-and-neck)
  • use original data, unseen in any other competitions or publications

Beginners are welcome to propose - original ideas count as much as polished credentials.

The hackathon runs in a hybrid format - you can join from home or work alongside others at the University of Bucharest. On-site, you'll find food, drinks, stickers, and help whenever needed (just not beds or accommodation). Teams should have 2-4 members.

We start with a short intro at 10:00, followed by the official kick-off at 11:00 on Saturday. The clock runs until Sunday at 11:00. To qualify for prizes, each team presents their solution at the end.
